The delayed 2023 African Games have started in Ghana, with athletes from 52 nations participating in 30 disciplines, including eight Olympic qualifying sports. The games will be held in Accra, Kumasi, and Cape Coast, and around 5,000 athletes will compete for medals.
The African Games will conclude on March 23, 2024.
Marketing revenue and incomplete facilities led to the delays but organizers are now confident in the high standard of facilities and infrastructure.
Meanwhile, it was a gold rush for team Nigeria on day three as the wrestling team raked in six gold medals.
