This “REVOLT BLACK NEWS” segment explores how prior to Kanye West and Drake’s “Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert,” there was trepidation on the part of Larry Hoover Jr. The son of the incarcerated co-founder of Chicago’s Gangster Disciples
member was reportedly worried about the effectiveness of the event. In the end, did the concert help or hurt Larry Sr.’s case? Is he now one step closer to finally being freed from prison? He’s been serving multiple life sentences for decades now. We also explore the concert’s profits and who really benefited from merchandise/ticket sales.
Inspired by Sean “Diddy” Combs’ successful “State Of Emergency: The State of Black America & Coronavirus” town hall, “REVOLT BLACK NEWS” is a platform that is designed to report news from the perspective of Black people for Black people.
“When I started REVOLT, I always wanted to develop a platform to report the news from our perspective, from our lens, from our people, so I decided to launch ‘REVOLT BLACK NEWS.’” said Combs. “We’re here with solutions. We’ve already heard about what we can’t do, but this is what we can do.”
